Star Island Boat Tour, Miami

Biscayne Bay is truly a boater’s paradise and offers some of the most amazing views of Miami and Miami Beach, not to mention all the beautiful islands in between the two of them. Most people (even locals who grew up in Miami) have no idea that the waterways between Miami and Miami Beach are completely fake……they are man-made. The bay that is between Miami and Miami Beach was originally and naturally swampland. It was all dredged out in the early 1900’s to make Miami a more inviting tourist destination and also a boater’s paradise. It makes more sense when you realize that the swampland that was dredged up was used to make Miami Beach much bigger, like it is today. Back in those days, they referred to Miami Beach as the “Billion Dollar Sandbar” because it had potential, but wasn’t much more than a barrier island. They actually had so much landfill when they dredged out the bay that they decided to make islands. There are 26 man-made islands in Biscayne Bay, which is why most of the islands are perfectly formed as ovals, squares, circles or similarly perfectly formed islands. Natural islands don’t form perfect shapes. This is a great indicator that the islands are fake. They came from the worthless swampland to create billions of dollars in very exclusive real estate.

Star Island is probably the most famous of all the man-made islands in the bay and is or has been home to some very prominent and famous individuals, including Shaquille O’Neill, Gloria and Emilio Estefan, P. Diddy (Puff Daddy/Puffy/Sean Combs/etc.), Elizabeth Taylor, and Rosie O’Donnell just to name a few.
